VAT Rate Change on 1 January 2020 to 14.5%

Please find guidance on how to effect the changes to Sage 50 Pastel Partner and Xpress. Please note that the procedure is different for Xpress  as it is for Partner.

Please check with the  supplier of your Fiscal Device whether the model of device you have requires any changes to cater for the change in VAT Rate % from 15 to 14.5

Sage 50 Pastel Partner – How to change the VAT Rate

  1. Check if Fiscal Device requires any changes
  2. Backup your system first as changes are not reversible
  3. Change the effective dates for VAT as follows;
  4. Setup – Tax – General Settings
  5. Select Percentages Tab
  6. Create new tax type for 14.5%
  7. Change Start and End date for the old 15% tax % to end at 31/12/19 and the 14.5% to start on 01/01/20
  8. Click “OK” to save changes
  9. Edit – Tax Type Adjustment
  10. Choose Inventory
  11. Choose existing Tax Type to Change
  12. Choose Tax type to change to – new tax type for 14.5%
  13. Choose both Selling and Purchase Tax Types
  14. Go Ahead and Process to update

Sage 50 Pastel Partner Xpress  – How to change the VAT Rate

1.    Backup Data first

2.    There is no Tax Type adjustment in Xpress

3.    The work around in Xpress is as follows;

4.    Go to Setup – Tax – General Settings – Percentage

5.    Create a new tax type which is 14.5%

6.    Export inventory items and save the file as .csv and save on the desktop

7.    Open the file and change the Purchase Tax Type (Column N) and Selling Tax Type (Column O) from the old to the new Tax Type which has been created on Step 1.

8.     Save the file and then go back into Pastel

9.    Import the inventory back into Pastel.

10.  Change the effective dates for VAT as follows;

11.  Setup – Tax – General Settings

12.  Select Percentages Tab

13.  Change Start and End date for the old 15% tax % to end at 31/12/19 and the 14.5% to start on 01/01/20
